The “I am PRO” – series was produced within the project “Weideland 3.0”. One of the aims of the project is to contribute to the long-term preservation of pasture farming and the diversity of production systems.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of Lower Saxony.

The whole team

A host of different organisations were involved in the development of the Weidecharta (‘Charta Weideland Norddeutschland’). They have been joined by others, meaning that we now enjoy the support of 37 organisations, all of whom are supporters and members of the PRO WEIDELAND community:

Teamwork at PRO WEIDELAND

Our partners in the community support the implementation of the guidelines in different ways.

Arla Foods

With some 9,760 farm owners and some 19,000 employees, Arla Foods is one of the world’s largest dairy cooperatives.

Ever since Arla joined the PRO WEIDELAND programme, the fresh dairy products of the northern German regional brand HANSANO have been bearing our quality label.

German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE)

The BLE helps the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture successfully implement its agricultural and food policy.

In the area of food, the BLE handles inspection work, information/educational responsibilities and project funding.

FrieslandCampina

FrieslandCampina is one of the largest dairy companies in the world and has been a cooperative for more than 150 years. Its members comprise more than 11,000 dairy farmers in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Cheese from pasture-fed cows, which FrieslandCampina produces for its partner retailers and which bears the PRO WEIDELAND label, is stocked on supermarket shelves throughout Germany.

Lower Saxon Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection

The PRO WEIDELAND label emerged from a project funded by the Lower Saxon Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection

Through ongoing project funding, the State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection plays a significant role in the safeguarding of pastureland in Lower Saxony.

Ammerländer

Molkerei Ammerland is one of the largest dairy cooperatives in Germany (5th place). Of its roughly 2,000 milk suppliers, about half take part in the pasture milk programme (i.e. they are PRO WEIDELAND-certified).

Dairy products of the Ammerländer brand, as well as many own-brand products that also bear the PRO WEIDELAND label, are predominantly stocked at Bünting Group, Edeka, Kaufland, Lidl, Netto and REWE outlets in northern Germany.

NABU

NABU is the oldest and largest (by membership) environmental organisation in Germany.

NABU campaigns for biodiversity and the protection of unspoilt habitats, as well as for clean air, clean water, healthy soil and the responsible use of the planet’s finite resources.
